Oxygen - The Crucial Component

The oxygen content of a workspace environment is a critical health and safety concern. In the 21% by volume range, oxygen sustains human life. However, a slight reduction in oxygen has adverse physiological effects on exposed workers; undetectable by the human senses, this silent, odorless and invisible hazard can, at low concentrations, incapacitate or even kill within minutes. Conversely, a few percent increase in oxygen content increases flammability risks with many substances. Without an effective detection/warning system, personnel are extremely vulnerable.

The ISA-40 oxygen monitor/alarm from ENMET responds to changes in oxygen concentrations within seconds to safeguard workers against oxygen hazards found throughout industry; in manufacturing areas or warehouses, where gases and chemical vapors can enter the air and displace oxygen at work areas; at wastewater treatment plants, where oxygen-consuming organisms may significantly reduce available oxygen; inside steel mills or incineration facilities, where in-plant combustion equipment expend large amounts of oxygen; within enclosed areas, where welding, painting or cleaning with solvents affects the oxygen content; and at facilities which use, generate or store oxygen, where oxygen enrichment can increase the risk of fire.
